In 1945, America’s first Fine Art Photography department was established at the San Francisco Art Institute. Today, students all over the world choose to pursue their photography art career here. However, photography as an art medium changes much faster than other traditional mediums. In terms of technological impact, “Photography Without Camera” explores the meaning of photography within today’s world, as well as highlighting the diverse and varied techniques of image making.
In “Photography Without Camera”, we aim to the definition of photography by removing the physical camera and site-specific shooting to emphasize the relationship between the artist and their vision of the world. By abandoning the accepted aura of the camera, we challenge the viewer to rethink the role of the camera within today’s world.
