The notion of relocation and movement from one place to another is a natural concept and social activity that people endure every day. The aspect of migration in order to survive and forge new connections and collectives are common occurrences; whether it be dictated by constantly changing political climate, or finding alternative environments and pursuit of unexplored opportunities.

Climbing the City is an exhibition that expand and evoke the polarized aspects of migration. Through the fresh eyes of individuals new to the city of San Francisco, SFAI freshmen artists explore the notions of excitement and anxiety, the comfort and discomfort, the unease of displacement, and the familiarity of being home in this very unfamiliar place.
