Circo Duflar is a solo show exhibiting the work of Carlos Alberto Mayer.
“As a documentary filmmaker, I am currently working on a film about my Grandfather, who grew up as a child traveling circus performer in the 20’s and 30’s and then created his own circus in Habana Cuba in the early 40’s and 50’s which was later shut down after the triumph of The Cuban Revolution. His rich and sadly discarded history, captured in still moments, is a personal archaeological dig for self-discovery. Through this film I am hoping to speak to those who have personally felt the reality of lost roots based on forced immigration and permanent displacement, put upon them in early childhood while carrying all their fears deep inside their own innocence and placing false hopes of an American dream that will never fully materialize, while dealing with the reality of disfranchised stigmas to a once close-knit family now divided and lost forever.” Carlos Alberto Mayer
