ANTITHETICAL

On View: November 4 - 11, 2019
Atrium | Fort Mason Campus

In ANTITHETICAL, each artist shares not only their work, but also their efforts to define what being a successful artist means against the current market-driven art world. They are attempting to find a deeper more meaningful connection to their art and still survive, even flourish. They seek a compassionate community through the creative process. Many are sorting through the noise and distractions of modern life to discover something authentic. And several artists are reconciling often-conflicting cultural influences to find and create hybrid identities. Their work and statements reflect some of the pressures that face all contemporary artists trying to find their voice.

Participating Artists: Christa Grenawalt, Ying Gu, Li Jiazhen, Sae Yong Lee, Christian Tan, and Zimao Zhao.
