Join us November 14-15 for SFAI CONCENTRATE, a weekend-long festival, art sale, and series of artist-driven events open to the public. The student art sale showcases a broad range of contemporary art works from over 170 students, happening at SFAI’s 800 Chestnut Street campus. The festival also offers an array of family-friendly activities including art-making, a bounce house, ping pong rallies and goats in the SFAI meadow.
SFAI is also pleased to announce that Whoop Dee Doo, the internationally renowned faux-public access, family-friendly variety show, will perform with a team of SFAI students in ingenious game show performances created especially for Concentrate. The show will be hosted every 20 minutes in Zellerbach Quad.

Fort Point Beer Company was founded in 2014 by brothers Tyler and Justin Catalana. The brewery resides in a historic Presidio building that was formerly used as an army motor pool. Building on the success of their five-year old restaurant Mill Valley Beerworks, Fort Point focuses on craft beers like a San Francisco-style IPA, a Kölsch-style ale, and a hoppy wheat beer.

Pull unique, vibrant prints of arrangements made of leaves, stencils, string, bubble-wrap, and other materials from an inked gelatin base. Layer images and colors with this fun and easy printmaking method you can do at home. When you are done, take your print with you or give to a friend!

WACKY MAN BALLOON FOREST

Visible from a mile away, Charlie Mylie’s Wacky Man Forest refashions the animated tube dancers often associated with used car lots and discount mattress centers as an immersive installation at the very top of SFAI’s campus.

What is essential is invisible (2005) is an inflatable sculpture of an anatomical human heart by the artist Felipe Dulzaides (MFA, 2001). Climb in and out through the aortas or watch the heart “beat” from the movements of people playing inside. Commissioned by the Scottsdale Commission of Public Art in 2005 and previously exhibited on the Zellerbach Quad in 2012, Dulzaides’ interactive sculpture has returned to SFAI for a second Concentrate in a row!

GOATS IN THE SFAI MEADOW + GARDENING ACTIVITY

Learn about the history of the SFAI Meadow and get to know our special visitors: goats from City Grazing who are helping keep the meadow tidy. City Grazing’s goats are friendly, lively, and great with children.
Sundays are the weekly workday in the Meadow and a group of SFAI students will be planting, clearing brush, and caring for our campus green space. Feel free to bring your gardening gloves and lend a hand or just enjoy a moment of quiet in this unexpected urban landscape. Meadow volunteers will also host a hands-on activity great for families!
