On view: January 18 - 30, 2019
We are mesmerized by the dissipation of recognizable forms. Our attention to them has waned and shifted to what lies beyond the obvious: the emotional residue of mark-making, the messages in obscured geometry, the energy revealed in disfigured and dissolving symbols, and the agency enacted through light, color and texture. A deviation has been made, by the artists in this exhibition, from the discernible to explore the abstruse; cancelling the subject-centered representations and languages that fail to pave an inroad to the location where a myriad of complicated feelings are negotiated within us all.
