ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
On view: March 11–15
When the fibers have disintegrated;
can we reconcile all the multitudes of what we are?
Seeking to mend the distances between craft and fine art as well as the disjointed aspects of their own identities these artists utilize tactile material to create a visual language that connects to personal histories and the histories of the medium. Through unconventional approaches to textile work these artists explore identity by employing needlework and fabric manipulation. Focused on bridging the gaps between ancestral identity, hybridity, and the ways in which we navigate the world these works create tangible objects representative of the pain and joy contained in memory, nostalgia and collaborative future-building.
