Inversion/Isolation is a solo show exhibiting the work of Alexander Taylor.
Humor is sometimes used to cover up uncomfortable feelings about grave or emotional matters in life. To “grin and bear it” was more about grimacing and gritting ones teeth than smiling. The burden of the body and of struggle compound each other as we navigate ourselves through tasks and seasons that seem like vanity or striving against the wind. Inversion/Isolation features performative self-portraits that explore the point at which bodily awkwardness, vain struggle and humor collide.
