Opening Reception: Articulated Identities

Articulated Identities features twenty artworks from a diverse group of artists who deal with self-articulated forms of identities, created in SFAI’s Public Education program this last year. Through a wide range of interdisciplinary approaches, individual styles manifesting contrasting aesthetics are depicted in thoughtful ways. Expressions of self-reflection, childhood, memory, and gender identity are mixed with close examinations of urban transformation and experimental studies of materials. If beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder, articulating identities is about what we perceived externally as much as in ourselves.
