Proximities and Distances at the Edge of Nature

Kim Anno’s interdisciplinary work creates a tapestry of painterly, rebellious, and seductively contemporary projects. Her paintings, photographs, and expanded cinema/video works tinker with nature, queer ecologies, and notions of travel in both empathetic and ironic images. Sometimes she assumes the role of puppet-master of objects and books, and other times she is a director of crowds, musicians, actors, and dancers, including actual people affected by the eventual consequences of climate change. Anno’s work has been shown internationally at venues including the Goethe Institute, Johannesburg, and 14th Seoul International New Media Festival.
