San Francisco Art Institute’s Mentorship Program provides 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students the opportunity to be connected with SFAI alumni working in their creative field.
Students will bolster their skills by gaining professional experience during alumni interactions, which are fostered in hopes of readying emerging artists for a transition into the next phase of their artist practice.
SFAI Alumni are encouraged to share artistic, curatorial, and creative professional expertise with current SFAI students. Mentors will benefit from this alliance by helping foster the new generation of art makers.
Your application will be evaluated for selection into the matching process upon receipt. Students are then paired with alumni based on questionnaire responses. Once a match is made, SFAI will then an email introducing you to your mentor! From there, it is up to you and your mentor to decide on the best communication style for both of you.
This program is shaped by the unique character of each of the mentee/mentor duos according to their respective needs. The desired level of time commitment will be discussed by the individual pairs. For example, you can opt to meet once a week for an hour, or every other week for two hours, or any other combination of approaches and communication methods that work best for you.
