This course is an introduction to contemporary performance and video art. Students will gain a fundamental understanding of performance by creating live performances through live streaming or camera recording. Students will also learn the basics of video editing. The classes will include lectures, studio practice, individual and group critiques, and discussions. The instructor also offers tutorials for college applications.

Sang Chi Liu does live performance, makes video art, photography, writing and installation. They explore methods to subvert contemporary photography by building up an alternative way to look at the connection between the digital era and humans’ physical bodies. Their work has been exhibited in the Museum of Temporary Art in Taipei, Schafer Gallery, Diego Rivera Gallery, and virtual galleries such as the landueseresearch.com. They are also a teacher, editor, and curator. They received their MFA from San Francisco Art Institute and their BA from National Taiwan University.
