This writing course for artists will include both technical and professional writing skills. We will cover basic grammar and style, strategies for idea development, how to begin any writing task, and how to edit your work. Professional topics include writing artist statements, proposals, and residency applications. We will also discuss how personal writing can aid your studio practice and conceptual development. Open to beginners as well as students with specific projects in mind. Remove fear and get writing!
Kathy Sirico is a Brooklyn-based visual artist working at the intersection of textiles, sculpture, painting, collage, and installation. Sirico holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a Bachelor of Science from Skidmore College. She was a 2018 Artist-in-Residence at the Vermont Studio Center, a 2017 Artist-In-Residence at the Lucid Art Foundation, and a 2016 Artist-In-Residence at Recology. Sirico’s work was most recently featured in the show Interior/Exterior at the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco.
