Renée Rhodes is a San Francisco-based artist working with dance, social memory, personal map-making, and the histories embedded within landscape. Her video, dance, and installation works have most notably been featured at the Performance Studies International Conference 19, Stanford University; Virtual Venues Symposium, University of California, Berkeley; Headlands Center for the Arts, Sausalito, California; SOMArts, San Francisco; Velocity Dance Center, Seattle; and La Sala SAM, Santiago, Chile. She was a recent artist in residence at the Guesthouse Project in Cork, Ireland, where she collected footage to make a video about a fictitious meeting between Isadora Duncan and a traditional Irish topographical poet, Dinnseanchas. Her dance-based writings have been published or are forthcoming in Media Fields Journal, University of California, Santa Barbara; Dance Discourse Project, San Francisco; and FRONT, Portland, Oregon.
