Can’t make it to SFAI? Join us for an online interactive conversation that uncovers SFAI’s boundary-pushing ethos + inclusive peer community at the Virtual Grad Admissions Open House: Portfolio + Fellowships.

SFAI is looking for MFA candidates who understand the conceptual risk-taking, rigorous thought, and familiarity with the historical and contemporary contexts for artistic production necessary for success in the contemporary art world. We are looking for individuals who are ready for the challenges of an experimental and independent art community.

This event will feature faculty member Jeremy Morgan who has been a long-time participant in the Graduate Faculty Review Committee. He will unpack the specific ideas that rest within the short paragraph that describes SFAI’s MFA portfolio requirements, and will share what qualities the committee sees in the strongest portfolios for both admission and fellowship consideration.

In this session you will:

  • Hear from incredible faculty about what they are looking for in a strong portfolio
  • Find out how to submit an application and how to give yourself the best chance of being considered for competitive fellowships and other awards
  • Learn how the application process contributes to future professional success

(L to R): Daniel Samaniego (MFA Painting, 2011) and Brett Reichman, SFAI Associate Professor of Painting.
