Opening Reception: Tuesday, November 3, 5-7 pm
Students in this semester's MA Collaborative Project are focused on performance art in the Bay Area, beginning their investigation with Site Works - an interacitve website created by University of Exeter Deputy Vice Chancellor and Professor of Performance Studies Nick Kay. His website pinpoints significant performance art projects that took place in San Francisco from 1969-1985. Using this geography and time period as a launching point, they have chosen six artists to highlight.
The Site A Live features objects and works related to these artists that focus on temporality, the human body, and the mechanical. Other themes include healing, ritual, the blurring between art and life, exisential questions, and layers of perception.
The Site A Live will be in dialogue with work from Linda Mary Montano, James Lee Byars, Terry Fox, Ginny Lloyed, Darryl Sapien, and Jim Pomeroy. Collaborators include Lisa Boling, Anita Giansante, Carolin Rechberf, Alex Molinari, Minoosh Zomorodinia, and Eva Recinos.
