Textale is an exhibit that explores materiality as an invitation to enter a sensual world of ambiguity where intimacy covers the everyday. Fabric is a sensory apparatus, used to access corporal and psychological memory—your grandmother’s pillowcase is made out of the same material as your lace underwear. Soft creatures come to life through performative gestures by the artist and by the materials themselves. Playfulness is a tool that allures only to repel, an invitation to enter, and a warning sign. Through processing and reprocessing found, discarded, and manipulated materials, we raise questions of ecological and biological unsustainability of the modern world.

Textale is a soft sculpture show by four bay area artists: Alysia Davis, Zoë Leonard, Anastasia Rasschupkina, and Kathy Sirico.
