Opening reception for Layered Perceptions, a group show featuring the work of student artists Natalie Falero, Teddi Meislahn, and Cristina Velázquez.
Layered Perceptions presents three women’s artistic visions on gender through dissecting domesticity, body, object, and landscape.Domestic scenes surveyed as sources that unfold the construct of identity of female gendered bodies. Light, bodies and objects suspend as (re)action of oppression through the incongruous chain of female production as object. The use of multi-media allows for exploration through photography, light, installation, and performance. The gallery space will diffuse light, filtered through boxes, domestic installation, and fabrics to invoke memories. Gentle provocations on evident roles of control, the inherent controller will be challenged to feel the female gendered body's presence. Bodies encapsulated will erupt to move as entity of self-indulgence.
