Join us for the opening recpetion of Assembling(de)Assembling, curated by Shanza Elahi and featuring works by Kaifa Chen, Nick Mittelstead, and Rebecca Rippon.
An artist constructs and de-constructs in order to find greater meaning within the world. Whether through repetitive mark making, layering or fragmenting, the artist undergoes a laborious process that involves inspecting a mental or physical space in an attempt to establish a more secure foothold in a complicated world. Assembling(de)Assembling will establish this more secure foothold through work that finds balance between binaries: presence and absence, artificiality and nature, light and dark. Through our shared visual interest in the grid, repetition, unexpected scale, and a unified appreciation of labor as art, we hope to explore and reconcile the binaries of the universe.
