Opening Fall 2017

The San Francisco Art Institute's Graduate programs, and artist studios will relocate from its Third Street location to a new campus at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC), opening its doors for the Fall 2017 semester. The 67,000-square-foot-space will be located in a vibrant community of 24 resident organizations–including galleries, bookshops, restaurant, cafes, and art supply store–and within blocks of the 800 Chestnut Street Campus.

  • 160+ artist studios, grouped in suites of six to invite collaboration
  • 3,300 square feet of two exhibition galleries; a student-run gallery and a media/performance space for public programs. Both will be open to the public free of charge.
  • Performance/video/installation spaces
  • Digital media suite and woodshop facility
  • Student lounge
  • Seminar room with direct views of the Golden Gate Bridge

Community

The new campus will be located within blocks of the 800 Chestnut Street Campus; next to SFMOMA Artists Gallery; art supply store FLAX Art & Design; Embark Gallery, which offers exhibition opportunities to fine arts graduate students from Bay Area colleges; City College’s Fort Mason Art Campus; and the internationally acclaimed Greens Restaurant.
