Frank Smigiel is Associate Curator, Performance & Film, at SFMOMA, where he designs visual arts-based performance and film. His curatorial interests include the intersection of theatrical and live art forms, commerce by artists, and queer histories. With Betti-Sue Hertz and Dominic Willsdon, he co-curated "Public Intimacy: Art & Other Ordinary Acts in South Africa" (2014) at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. He also curated the performance component of "Stage Presence: Theatricality in Art & Media" (2012) and, with Christina Linden, the exhibition "Ben Kinmont: Prospectus" (2012-13), both at SFMOMA. He holds a doctorate in English Literature.
